Roman Medical Implement and Palette Collection Circa 1st-4th Century AD
A bronze medical instrument group comprising: a rectangular palette with bevelled edges; scalpel with double edge leaf shaped blade; spoon with circular bowl, collared stem with expanded waist and finial formed as a probe; pin with tapering round-section body, shallow conical finial and decoratively incised head; a scoop probe with twisted handle, expanded neck with collars; scoop with leaf-shaped bowl, expanding neck with collar; twizzles : around 250 grams total, 6 cm-13 cm. Acquired before 2000.From the collection of a European gentleman living in the UK.
