Post Byzantine Gold Cross Pendant with Cameo, Circa 16en, 17en Century AD
A substantial gold-hollow Orthodox Christian cross pendant comprising four expanding arms each with dotted-phelegree decoration, central white cameo stone with Greek letters combined vertically and horizontally to proclaimed ”Jesus Chist as the light PHOS and the Life ZOE of the world. From the Holy Scruptures (John 8:12) ; 16.55 grams 49.44 mm /38mm. Property of a South London gentleman; previously in a private collection formed in the 1990s. Fine condition.
