Roman Wedding Ring with Gold Bezel, Circa OMONOIA 1st, 2nd century AD.
A silver ring with hoop with angled shoulders with fluting; inset with a large gold plate with the image of clasped hands and inscription on Greek – OMONOIA ; 20.16 grams, 30.27 mm overall, 20.30 mm internal diameter. Fine condition. This ancient wedding ring depicts the ceremony of joining hands at a marriage (dextratrum iunctio). A similar example is held in the British Museum (Museum item number 1917,0501.276).
