Roman Discoid Mirror with Three, Circa Graces 2nd Century AD

A discoid bronze mirror with decorative groove around the perimeter and several circle lines on the reverse, oval silver decoration with the three graces in the centre; 17 cm diameter, 490 grams. Fine condition. Footnotes: The Three Graces were worshiped in the Greek world as Goddesses of fertility associated with Aphrodite. As their Greek name the Charities suggests, they were also associated with charm, beauty and favour and were thus an appropriate subject for objects of vanity, especially mirrors.
