MACEDON (ROMAN PROTECTORATE). Republican period. First Meris. Tetradrachm, AR, 28 mm, 16.64 g, Amphipolis mint, c. 167–149 BC. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver over her shoulder; all at the centre of a Macedonian shield ornamented with stars within crescents / MAKE?ON?N / ???TH? Club to right; monogram above; two monograms below; oak wreath with ties to left around; thunderbolt to left of the ties. SNG Copenhagen 1314. Beautiful toning, attractive specimen. some lead deposit . Near extremely fine.
