Roman Silver Ring with Scorpion, Circa 1st Century BC- 1st Century AD
A silver ring with an oval hoop, expanding towards the conical shoulders, ellipsoid-encased carnelian stone, engraved with a scorpion. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L., Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991. 5.24 grams, 23.60 mm overall, 18.53 mm internal diameter. German art market before the 2000s. Currently property of a Surrey gentleman. Fine condition.
