In Greek mythology, Silenus (/saɪˈliːnəs/; Ancient Greek: Σειληνός, Romanised: Silenus, IPA: [seːlɛːnós]) was a companion and tutor to the wine god Dionysus. He is typically older than the satyrs of the Dionysian retinue (thiasos), and sometimes considerably older.
