KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.5 g), Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion’s skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long sceptre in his left; to left star over M; below throne, monogram. Toned; obverse struck in high relief. Porous surfaces, otherwise very fine.
