A silver ring with solid band and expanding arms, pyramidal bezel with engraved cross-Potent /Jerusalem type.; 7.8 grams, 16.32 internal diameter , 22mm external diameter. Very fine. From the collection of EU gentleman,; acquired on the Austrian art market around 1990s. ”Potent is an old word for a crutch, from a late Middle English alteration of Old French potence “crutch”[a] The term potent is also used in heraldic terminology to describe a ‘T’ shaped alteration of vair, and potenté is a line of partition contorted into a series of ‘T’ shapes.”
