Description
A gold ring with flat-section hoop and oval bezel, with carnelian oval intaglio with image of standing legionary eagle . Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L., Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 184, for this type of ring, dated around 3rd century AD; 4.03 grams, 23.6 mm overall, 23 mm internal diameter. Ex collection of a US gentleman; previously on the European art market before 2000. Very fine condition.
